Most travelers only stay in the area for a day or two bogota. This is not considered a highlight Colombia And usually ignored by most travelers.
I think this was a mistake.
I really enjoyed my time in Bogota. The city hasn’t seen that many socialization Like every other city in the country, so to me it feels the most Colombian. I even ended up staying longer than expected because I loved it so much!
However, where you stay in a city (and which hotel you stay in) will greatly affect your trip. Not all areas of the city are safe, and not all hotels are created equal.
To help you make the most of your trip, here is my list of the best hotels in Bogota:
1. Hotel Magdalena
This affordable guest house is located in La Candelaria, the city’s historic centre. The place is really cozy, with a small garden area and internal courtyard, cozy lounges, resident cats and lovely owners who go out of their way to make you feel at home in Bogota. There is also a kitchen available for guests to use.
The rooms are simply decorated but cozy, with parquet floors and unique artwork on the walls. The bathroom is where the room really shines. I love the brightly colored tile floors and walk-in shower. The water is always hot and has good pressure (not always the case in this neighborhood). There are free toiletries and the bed is really comfortable. All of Bogota’s major attractions are within walking distance, so if you want to spend a lot of time visiting the sights, stay here.
2. HAB Hotel Bogota
Located on a quiet residential street in trendy Chapinero, this chic 4-star hotel offers luxury facilities at a moderate price. I love that it is located in this grand historic mansion. The whole place is very stylish, with a plant-filled outdoor terrace, a rooftop terrace and a 24/7 fitness center. It even has its own farm-to-table restaurant/bar that serves delicious breakfasts in the morning and delicious cocktails in the evening.
The spacious room has hardwood floors and large windows that let in lots of light (although I appreciate the blackout curtains for when you want to block out the light). All rooms are equipped with high-quality mattresses, desks, minibars, flat-screen TVs and safes. The stylish bathrooms feature fine black tiles and free luxury toiletries. It’s an oasis of tranquility in one of the city’s coolest neighborhoods.
3. Casa Legado
The 5-star Casa Legado in Quinta Camacho is an exceptional hotel, beautifully designed in a mid-20th century style. Each of the 13 rooms has its own character; some have balconies, others have garden views. All rooms have a fun and playful vibe, with decor such as brightly colored wallpaper, leafy greenery, hardwood floors, fireplaces, and beautifully tiled bathrooms with large walk-in showers. The bright and spacious rooms also feature desks, flat-screen TVs with streaming services and safes.
I especially love all the benefits here. The hotel offers free breakfast, bicycles for guests’ use, a peaceful inner courtyard and a tour desk to help organize activities. If you are a foodie looking for luxury, I would stay here as this neighborhood has the highest concentration of fine restaurants in the city. It is also one of the safest areas.
4. Avani Royal Zona Hotel Bogota
This 4-star hotel is located in the heart of Zona Rosa (also known as Zona T), the city’s main shopping and entertainment district. This is a stylish, modern hotel with spacious rooms and minimalist design. The beds are spacious and comfortable, and the room also comes with a minibar, mini refrigerator, flat-screen TV, coffee/tea maker and desk. The rooms are also very well soundproofed, which is a plus since you’re staying in a popular area known for its nightlife. The bathroom is on the smaller end but has decent water pressure and free toiletries.
There’s also a fitness center; a mouth-watering breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, breads, meats and cereals; and a very attentive staff to ensure you have a comfortable stay. The hotel is also pet-friendly and has free parking. The amenities and location really can’t be beat.
5. 5 Elements Apartments & Suites
All units at this three-star hotel are fully furnished apartments with separate kitchens, combining the advantages of staying in a hotel and renting an apartment. While I found the decor a little dated, there were gorgeous hardwood floors throughout and the room also had a seating area, desk, flat-screen TV, coffee maker, and even a laptop safe. The bathroom is not big but the shower is a good size with colorful tiles (good water pressure).
The free breakfast was great, I especially liked their eggs cooked to order. There is also a fitness center, business center and relaxing outdoor gardens on site. It’s not a super central location, but it’s easy to get to the city center and the airport. Overall, this is a great option for families or groups who want more space.
6. Grand Hyatt Bogota
If you really want to splurge (or Maybe you have some Hyatt points to use), you won’t find anything more luxurious than this five-star hotel. The Grand Hyatt is home to Latin America’s largest urban spa, featuring a stunning indoor pool, sauna, hot tub, treatment rooms and fitness center with personal trainers. There will also be two restaurants, a cocktail bar and a grab-and-go market. A delicious breakfast is also provided in the morning.
Rooms and suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows, making them bright and airy. I loved that every room had a stunning view, either overlooking the Andes or the city itself. Rooms feature a modern minimalist design and include a desk, Nespresso coffee machine, mini refrigerator, 50-inch flat-screen TV and safe. The bathroom was huge with double sinks, marble tub and shower with excellent water pressure. The only downside to this hotel is that it’s a bit far from the historic center (it’s in the business district, about a 20-minute Uber ride away). But if you want luxury, this is the hotel for you.
bogota It is one of my favorite Colombian cities. Well worth taking the time to explore. By staying at one of the hotels listed above, you’re guaranteed a fun, safe, and affordable stay in Colombia’s vibrant capital.
