Singapore It’s one of my favorite cities in the world. With its iconic futuristic skyscraper skyline and lush green spaces, it is one of the best food hubs in the region. The markets here are filled with cheap hawker stalls, including ones offering some of the most affordable Michelin-starred cuisine in the world.
But Singapore is expensive. It’s easy to exceed your budget here. While you can get cheap meals, accommodation will eat into your budget.
I have stayed in countless hotels in Singapore over the years, so today I would like to share the best hotels in Singapore:
1. scarlet
This award-winning four-star hotel is located in Chinatown, my favorite area of the city. It’s dotted with restored 19th-century shophouses and 1920s Art Deco buildings (you can’t miss their distinctive red facades). The interior is bright and bold, with rich colors and luxurious furnishings. The hotel also has a rooftop restaurant and bar, an outdoor hot tub, a gym, and a patisserie where you can enjoy fresh pastries in the morning.
Stylish rooms are individually designed with edgy touches such as colorful velvet lounge chairs and unique headboards. The bathrooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and you can even choose your pillow from a custom pillow menu. All rooms feature flat-screen TVs, work desks, free minibars, plush bathrobes and tea/coffee making facilities. If you’re looking for a more mid-range option in Chinatown, stay here.
2.KINN Capsule Hotel
Capsule hotels are something you have to experience at least once in Asia. Think of them like an elevated hotel. KINN is one of the few capsule hotels in the Quayside area. The hotel has a minimalist design, everything is super clean, and you get a free small breakfast (sandwiches and fruit) in the morning. There is also a pantry with free snacks, coffee and tea, a shared lounge, laundry facilities and a rooftop terrace with beautiful views. I particularly liked that guests can attend free fitness classes at a nearby gym and receive discounts at a coworking space a few blocks away.
Capsules feature air conditioning, comfortable bedding, foldable shelves and mirrors, integrated lighting, blackout privacy blinds and power sockets. You will also receive a personal locker to store your belongings. The shared bathroom has a large shower with good water pressure. There are also free toiletries. If you want more privacy than a capsule hotel, you can choose to stay in a private room with an ensuite bathroom. If you want to save money but don’t want to stay in a hotel, this place is a great option.
3. Royal Park Collection Hotel, Pickering
Due to its focus on sustainability, this luxury five-star hotel has been featured in numerous international publications. They collect rainwater, have solar panels for generating electricity, and use green roofs to minimize heat gain and grow produce. There are beautiful gardens and lush green walls everywhere. On the scenic garden skywalk you can take free classes (yoga, meditation, Zumba). There is also an outdoor swimming pool, gym and several restaurants. Although the breakfast buffet is not included, it is excellent and has a lot of variety. The hotel is also next to a metro station.
Rooms here are spacious and feature modern design with light wood paneling, neutral colors and large windows. All rooms feature a spacious work desk, ergonomic chair, flat-screen TV, minibar, plush bathrobes and bedside tables with universal power outlets. The bathroom was also large, with a stand-up shower with excellent water pressure and a deep soaking tub. There’s even a separate faucet for filtered drinking water, which I thought was a nice touch. Stay here for a unique and luxurious stay in the heart of Chinatown.
4. Saint Grand Hotel
This 3-star hotel is located on East Coast Road, not far from the Joo Chiat area, which has many street art, independent shops and cafes. Rooms are compact and simple, but come with a free minibar, flat-screen TV and desk. Bathrooms are spacious with bidets and walk-in showers or shower/tub combinations. There are a variety of room types to choose from, some even featuring balconies or skylights.
The hotel has a beautiful infinity pool and rooftop terrace with great views, as well as its own restaurant and bar. Breakfast is not available at the hotel, but there are plenty of places nearby. This is an excellent choice if you want simple accommodation in a secluded part of the city.
5. York Hotel
This four-star hotel is located near Orchard Road, known for its numerous shops and shopping malls spread from end to end. The York Hotel features a large outdoor pool, fitness center and a restaurant that serves a generous breakfast buffet daily (there’s even an omelet station).
The room and bathroom are a bit dated, but quite spacious, which is rare in a compact city like Singapore. Rooms feature minibars, coffee/tea makers, armchairs, desks and plush bathrobes and slippers. While this hotel isn’t anything groundbreaking, most hotels in the area are quite expensive. I think you get a great value experience here. This is a great option for those who want to live in a central location at a reasonable price.
Singapore It’s a charming city. I always enjoy coming here. While the city can be expensive, whether you’re looking to stay on a budget or splurge on a luxurious stay, staying at one of the hotels listed above will be well worth it.
