when one goes magic kingdompeople must take full advantage of the delicious food in the park.
When it comes to food, we know we can have a hearty meal that we can eat seriously—one that might make us roll out in a wheelbarrow. We know exactly where we have to go, and we’ll take you with us.
Located in Liberty Square, diamond horseshoe There’s a rich history that blends well with the park’s old American feel. Its design is reminiscent of the Wild West saloons of yesteryear, where cowboys would gather for great food and entertainment. The restaurant offers a themed dining experience with all-you-can-eat classic American holiday favorites. Think Thanksgiving dinner, but with a Disney twist.
As always, reservations are highly recommended, especially during peak park season.
atmosphere
Let’s talk about the atmosphere, shall we? The Diamond Horseshoe Hotel feels like stepping back in time to a vintage saloon, with polished wooden floors, ornate chandeliers and an upper-level balcony giving it a theater-like feel. It’s both casual and immersive, balancing park dining with themed experiences.
That said, not everything hits the mark. The seats can be a little uncomfortable, especially if you like adjusting your chair to find the perfect position. You know those rubber chair caps that prevent sliding? Yeah, they’re not winning any fans here. If you’re sensitive to seating or need more space, you may find yourself moving uncomfortably throughout your meal.
On the plus side, the waiters were pleasant and the overall atmosphere in the restaurant felt warm and welcoming. They even joked that there was a wheelbarrow in the back to push us out after we were full. Sadly, the wheelbarrow didn’t actually appear, but points were awarded for the effort.
menu
The experience is an all-you-can-eat treat, featuring turkey, stew, pork and an array of family-style sides, plus desserts to satisfy even the sweetest of lovers. USD 44 per adult, USD 24 per child.
Yes, if you are plant-based, there are options for you.
You’ll also find plenty of options if you’re craving something alcoholic, like their specialty drinks, beer, and wine.
eat
Now, onto the main event: the food. Diamond Horseshoe offers family-style packages so you don’t have to make the hard decision. Yes, they serve the same food as Liberty Tree Tavern. So if you’d like to dine at Liberty Tree but can’t make a reservation, just buy a Diamond Horseshoe! Here are our thoughts on each dish:
beginner
rolls royce
Let’s start with the rolls, because honestly, the rolls set the tone for the meal. These are sacred. They’re soft, fluffy, slightly sweet, and pair perfectly with the garlic butter topping.
They’re basically the love child of holiday dinner rolls and buttery garlic knots. They are very dangerous because you will want to fill them up before the main course arrives.
For plant-based eaters, the vegan wraps are equally addictive—so good, in fact, that you won’t even miss the butter.
salad
The salad was fresh and surprisingly delicious. A mixture of spring vegetables, dried cranberries, thinly sliced radishes, diced apples and white cheddar cheese, all tossed in a sweet vinaigrette.
It’s a crowd-pleasing game – simple, balanced, kid-friendly, but not boring.
Main Course – Salon Feast
stew
The outstanding star of the meal. This pot roast is tender, marinated in delicious stock and tastes like it’s been simmering all day.
Seasoned just right, not overly salty, just a hint of onion and black pepper. If you can only eat one thing here, make it the stew.
turkey
Turkey is another good choice. It’s enriched with a delicate herb butter that enhances its flavor without overpowering it.
You don’t have to worry about this being a dry turkey stereotype. This one delivers.
roast pork
Unfortunately, the pork didn’t hold its own. It was dry and the mushroom gravy used to preserve it was gone.
If you were ranking meats, this would be at the bottom. Not terrible, but not memorable either.
impossible meatloaf
We also have a plant-based option – Impossible Meatloaf.
It also stood out to us because of its fantastic flavor combination – salty, tangy and vinegary. It will take you a few seconds.
mashed potatoes
Never change, Disney mashed potatoes. They’re creamy, buttery, and have a hint of sour cream.
They’re the perfect comfort food that don’t need extra sauce or gravy to shine.
filling
The filling is always a gamble because everyone’s grandma makes it differently. Diamond Horseshoe’s version uses classic poultry seasonings like sage and thyme, plus hints of onion and celery to keep it safe.
It’s nostalgic and satisfying – just don’t expect anything groundbreaking.
green beans
The green beans were cooked al dente, which was a relief because no one likes mushy vegetables.
They were sprinkled with garlic and seasonings, but they could use a little more oomph. Not bad, but not a scene-stealer at the table.
macaroni and cheese
Macaroni and cheese stirs up some debate. While it was definitely a hit with kids and those looking for comfort food, it lacked the creaminess we remembered from our many meals at Liberty Tree Tavern.
This batch felt a little dry, like it was scraped from the bottom of the pan. Still tasty, but not its usual amazing self.
cranberry sauce
This is no ordinary cranberry sauce. It’s a cross between traditional cranberry sauce and applesauce – sweet, tangy and rich in flavor.
It pairs well with turkey and stuffing, but honestly, we could eat it by the spoonful.
Desserts and drinks
toffee cake
Dessert included with the meal was the famous toffee cake, and yes, it was just as rich and decadent as it sounds. It’s warm, gooey, and paired with vanilla bean ice cream.
Just a note – while we liked it, it was very sweet, so if you’re looking for a lighter finish, you might want to skip this and go find your next item.
Tavern Punch
This is where things get interesting. Tavern Punch is essentially Dole whipped into a puree with Sprite sprinkled on top.
It’s light, refreshing and a must-have for Dole Whip lovers. If you don’t like desserts that are too heavy, this is the perfect way to end the meal.
Plant-Based Apple Cake
This is a young lady. While the cake itself was delicious, the caramel sauce and coconut cream topping just didn’t work.
The caramel was bitter and had a strange aftertaste that clashed with the otherwise enjoyable cake. If you want to end on a high note, stick to toffee cake or punch.
Comprehensive
Overall, the Diamond Horseshoe is a solid choice for a hearty, comforting meal at the Magic Kingdom, but it’s not without its flaws.
If you go in knowing what to expect and sampling the best dishes, you’ll be sure to leave happy – maybe you need that wheelbarrow after all.
To eat or not?
Spend a night at the Diamond Horseshoe Hotel if…
- You’re looking for comfort food galore. Rolls, mashed potatoes and stew might just be worth it
- Want a family friendly atmosphere. The menu and atmosphere are perfect for families with children or anyone looking for a relaxed dining experience.
- Tavern Punch. This Dole Whip is a must-try for fans of unique Disney beverages.
- You can’t make a reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern
We would recommend another Disney World restaurant if…
- You are looking for the most comfortable seat. If comfort is a priority, those bentwood chairs may be a problem.
- You’re looking for an amazing plant-based dessert. If you go plant-based, apple cake isn’t the sweet ending you were hoping for.
- You want your entire meal to be top notch. While some dishes were standouts (the stew and rolls), others (like the pork and macaroni and cheese) felt like an afterthought.
