Nocturne luxury villas expand to Cayman Islands: Travel Weekly

Nocturne Luxury Villas recently expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of 140 high-end residences from Grand Cayman Villas and Condos. The acquisition is consistent with Nocturne’s goal to expand into key luxury markets in North America and the Caribbean, including previous acquisitions in the Florida Panhandle, Baja Peninsula, St. Barts and Telluride, Colorado.

“Grand Cayman is a popular destination, especially for visitors from North America. The island offers convenient air transportation, direct flights from many U.S. cities, and a variety of luxury homes and apartments,” said Scott WisemanCEO of Nocturne Luxury Villas. “The properties along Seven Mile Beach and Rum Point are particularly attractive, bringing diversity to our portfolio with beachfront locations and private pools.”

The villas are privately owned and therefore unique. The portfolio stretches from 7 Mile Beach to Rum Point and includes the Cayman Kai resort community. They range from one-bedroom apartments and villas to 11-bedroom private luxury villas, all professionally designed and serviced. Most have swimming pools, beachfront access, and facilities like paddle boards and kayaks.

Since its founding in 2021, Nocturne has been following what Wiseman sees as a simple but effective expansion path: acquiring luxury villa companies that are leaders in their respective markets. “The company we acquired has been a leader in luxury villa rentals for many years, which was a key factor in our selection,” he said. “These are not mass market properties. We aim for exclusivity and ensure that the majority of the homes we represent are exclusive to us.”

Nocturne’s model hinges on a hands-on approach, the CEO said. “From property management to housekeeping and concierge services, we handle everything in-house,” Wiseman said. “We maintain direct relationships with homeowners to ensure we are placing the right guests in those homes while taking care of the properties.”

Why choose Grand Cayman?

For Nocturne, Grand Cayman’s appeal is multifaceted. Not only is the island one of the most accessible Caribbean destinations, but it also has an abundance of luxury properties. “Many people are familiar with Seven Mile Beach, but our acquisition in Grand Cayman also brings residences to Rum Point, which offers a quieter, more laid-back option while still providing easy access to the island’s major attractions ,” he said.

The acquisition also enables Nocturne to capitalize on Grand Cayman and its booming tourism infrastructure, which includes diverse dining, shopping and entertainment options. “In Grand Cayman, we can offer our guests more than just a place to stay,” Wiseman said. “We personally curate unique local experiences, whether it’s a yacht trip to Stingray Island or a private chef preparing an in-villa meal.”

Nocturne’s latest acquisition comes at a time when the luxury villa market is experiencing significant growth. Once considered an alternative lodging option, hotels have now become mainstream choices for high-end travelers. “I think villa rentals should no longer be viewed as an ‘alternative,'” Wiseman said. “Platforms like Airbnb and VRBO introduced the concept to the masses, but luxury travelers have realized that villas offer a level of privacy, comfort and customization that traditional hotels cannot match.”

What to do next?

Nocturne has 1,500 exclusive homes in its portfolio, but according to Wiseman, the company’s growth isn’t over yet. “We are always looking for new opportunities, particularly in beach destinations and ski markets,” he said. “We are also expanding on U.S. coasts, exploring unique destinations like Big Sky Country and ski destinations.”
