When is the best time to visit Wadi Rum?

Photos of me walking in the Wadi Rum desert.

Due to the hot and arid climate, any time is a great time to visit Wadi Rum. In fact, it’s one of the driest places in the world! Although you are guaranteed sunshine all year round due to the climate, in my opinion the best times to visit are spring and autumn.

In spring, you can see colorful wildflowers and average temperatures range from 68–93°F. Baby goats are about to be born, and you might spot a baby llama! Be sure to bring a raincoat as spring showers do occur in the desert.

Fall temperatures are relatively similar to spring, often hovering around 59–95°F. This is the most popular season to visit the desert because it has the best weather. Keep in mind that as November approaches, temperatures will drop.

Summer often brings hot afternoons and the occasional dust storm, but it’s the perfect time for stargazing. Winter afternoons, on the other hand, are pleasant and suitable for outdoor activities. However, it can be very cold at night.
