EF World Journeys launches new adventure travel brand: Travel Weekly

Tour guide operator EF World Journeys will launch its third brand next month. EF Adventurestarting with more than 20 biking, hiking, walking and multi-adventure tours across four continents.

Along with sister brands EF Ultimate Break and EF Go Ahead Tours, EF Adventures opens EF to the youngest group, 14+. EF Ultimate Break is available to guests 18 to 35 years old, while EF Go Ahead Tours is available to guests 35 and older.

The new brand was inspired by data showing strong demand for high-quality adventure travel that is also culturally immersive.

Heidi Durflinger, president of EF World, said: “Travelers are more active than ever and are telling us directly that they want more adventure on their vacations while also learning about the people, history, and culture of the destinations they visit. culture and food,” Journey said in a statement. “One of the many reasons we launched EF Adventures was to better meet growing market demand. We can better serve these adventure seekers who want a combination of sport and cultural immersion.”

The tour, which will debut in October, will cover more than 16 countries in Europe, Asia, Central and South America and the Pacific Islands. Options include cycling and e-bike tours in Spain and Italy; hiking and backpacking tours in the Alps and Bhutan; and a variety of adventure tours, including kayaking in Costa Rica and Bali.

Tours are rated from 1 to 5 based on fitness level, from easy to challenging. These include options such as using e-bikes instead of traditional bikes, walking instead of hiking, and flexible schedules that allow travelers to skip some activities. The experiences will also include local food and beverages as well as guides who provide insights into the destination’s culture and history during each trip’s itinerary.

Pricing includes hotels, excursions, equipment, local cuisine and professional guides. Accommodation properties range from modern hotels to farmhouse (independently owned farm with accommodation), family-run boutique hotel and mountain lodge. Many hotels will offer rehabilitative services such as spa treatments and amenities such as swimming pools, hot tubs, and saunas.

EF said the tour selection and design also prioritized sustainability, taking into account concerns about overtourism and selecting “out-of-the-way locations with a focus on attracting local businesses”.

“More than half of the international travelers we surveyed had recently booked an adventure-oriented trip, but nearly a third felt these trips lacked cultural immersion in the destination they were visiting,” Derflinger said. “Similarly , travelers expressed disappointment with the quality of accommodation and food. We aim to change this.”
