If this is your first time visiting Mexico City, let me give you a list of things, tours and places to visit that you can’t miss. I would say that in an upcoming list I will be mentioning some of the most iconic landmarks and historical places in Mexico City.

1) Pyramids of Teotihuacan: This is a half-day tour an hour outside of Mexico City and be sure to visit the Avenue of Death, Pyramid of the Moon and Pyramid of the Sun.

2) Chapultepec Castle: Located atop Chapultepec Mountain, this castle holds a lot of Mexican history. You can walk around the halls of the castle and the views are spectacular.

3) Museum of Anthropology: This is the largest museum in Mexico City, located next to Chapultepec Castle. You can actually take a full day trip to visit both of these attractions and the one I recommend most to my readers. The magical fountain at the entrance of the museum is spectacular.

4) Frida Kahlo Museum: Learn about the house where Frida Kahlo and her husband Diego Rivera once lived. This is probably the most popular and hardest-to-get-ticket museum in all of Mexico. The reason I say this is because you have to book online at least two weeks in advance. You have to take into consideration that tickets are not sold inside the museum and not many people know this and are disappointed not to be able to enter.

5) Xochimilco Boat Tour: Xochimilco Cruises Located south of Mexico City, exploring the famous Xochimilco canals with a group of friends is an amazing experience. I call it the Mexican Gondola.

Be sure to explore Isla de las Muñecas (a creepy island with hundreds of dolls) and enjoy the music played by mariachi bands throughout the canals. There are several tour options in Xochimilco and this is one of my top recommendations, this experience better creates a Mexican party atmosphere with a lot of people which is part of the fun of visiting Xochimilco.

Orinoco Mexican Fast Food Restaurant Considered by many locals to be one of the best tacos in Mexico City. They were originally created in Monterrey, a northern region of Mexico, but due to its huge success, Orinoco opened in Mexico City, where locals loved the tacos they served.

One of the tacos I recommend is the famous Tacos al Pastor, which is the main specialty of this restaurant, and you can’t miss ordering their famous Chicharron Tacos, Pork Belly with Cheese and Avocado and Melted Cheese Wow! Both tacos were very delicious.

handshake speakeasy The bar was ranked 11th in the world in the World’s 50 Best Bars. This speakeasy in Mexico City’s Juárez neighborhood is billed as the ultimate cocktail experience.

There are two drinks from this place that I highly recommend: Pina Colada and Once Upon a Time in Oaxaca Mezcal Drink, these are the bar’s most famous cocktails.
