The “Standing at the Airport” team comes to visit san diegoCalifornia met most of our needs for a quick trip: an airport visit, some museums, great food, and a cool hotel.
If you’re heading in that direction, here are some places not to be missed.

San Diego International Airport (SAN) There are dozens permanent public art Situated throughout the terminal, a range of creative temporary exhibitions and Performing Arts Residency Program.
When you land and before flying out of the SAN, be sure to take some time to look around.
San Diego Zoo + San Diego Museum
We spent most of our visit in Balboa Park, the 1,200-acre park that is home to the park. San Diego Zoogardens, museums, theaters and many other attractions.
The zoo is a full day event and we returned for two more days and only visited a few of the 18 museums in the park, including one focusing on folk art Folk Art International Museumthis Museum of Photographic Art,SDiego Museum of Natural Historythis San Diego Museum of Art and several others.

We are happy to know and stay at Lafayette Hotel and Club Located in San Diego’s North Park neighborhood. From the description, it looks stylish, historic, and interesting. But it exceeded expectations on so many levels.
Built on 2.5 acres in 1946 and the only hotel built in the United States during World War II, this colonial-style property features a pool designed by Johnny Weissmuller, best known for his Olympic swimmer and Tarzan roles. design. This is the situation today.

In its heyday, the hotel attracted Hollywood’s elite. Celebrities such as Ava Gardner, Lana Turner, Lucille Ball and John Wayne have visited the hotel.
Like many grand properties of the era, the property fell into trouble after several changes in ownership. But in 2021, CH project Brooklyn-based company spends $31 million to revitalize it postal company. The hotel will reopen in 2023.
Here are some snapshots from our visit, starting with our poolside king room, complete with charming bathroom and oversized minibar.
The refurbished hotel has 139 rooms and seven unique food and beverage areas, including a 24-hour restaurant recreating a 1940s Worcester lunch cart, a two-lane bowling alley and additional games in the bar gutter, and a late night supper club with live entertainment; John Waters was set to perform the night we left.
This is the lobby bar. During our visit it was all decorated for the holidays and like the rest of the public areas was packed with tourists trying to get the perfect photo for Instagram. This is what the lobby bar looks like when no one is there.
