Alaska Airlines Group on Tuesday unveiled a new three-year strategic plan that includes developing an international gateway in Seattle and growing networks in Portland, Ore., and San Diego. The airline also announced two new routes from Seattle to Asia.

Instead, Hawaiian Airlines will increase flights between Honolulu and Tokyo Haneda from 12 to 14 flights per week. In October 2025, Hawaiian Airlines said it would launch direct flights between Seattle and Seoul, South Korea. The company did not provide further details but said sales would begin early next year.
As part of the Alaska Acceleration Plan, Alaska Airlines Group expects to fly nonstop to 12 destinations around the world by 2030 using long-haul wide-body aircraft from its Seattle gateway.
Additionally, the company said in the spring it would add 20% more seats between Seattle and Honolulu and increase nonstop Portland-Honolulu flights to three daily flights, with a 25% increase in available seats. The company also plans to operate late morning and late afternoon departures from San Diego to Maui this spring instead of morning departures, and add afternoon and red-eye flights from Maui. Beginning in mid-June, Alaska Airlines will launch new nonstop flights between San Francisco and Kona and Lihue.

In addition, the company said it will adjust flight schedules across its combined network so that flights from the East Coast and Midwest can more easily connect on the West Coast when heading to Hawaii.
“Building out our international gateway allows us to serve new customer demand that we did not previously compete with directly,” Alaska Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Harrison said Tuesday. “This includes international business travel from some of the largest companies in the world. Our hosted businesses Customers spend $300 million annually on international travel, and our top five managed enterprise customers alone represent a $200 million opportunity.”
Harrison added that there are opportunities on the cyber side in both Portland and San Diego. “On the corporate side, we’ve seen equity premiums across the network,” he said. “Especially with the addition of international flights to Seattle and the expansion of our network, corporate travelers have even more reasons to stay on our program and travel with us across the West Coast.”
The company has seen a “strong return” in corporate demand recently. Harrison said. “Both high-tech and professional services are recovering rapidly. As we sit here today, our enterprise bookings revenue is up 30% year over year.”
The company’s investor day presentation included plans to launch new distribution capabilities, ongoing pricing and a new premium credit card in summer 2025.
The company expects production capacity to increase by 1.5% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2024 and by 2% to 3% for the full year of 2025. Fourth-quarter fuel costs are expected to be $2.55 to $2.65 per gallon, with full-year 2025 fuel costs expected to be approximately $2.55 per gallon.
