bostonWith a rich history, vast green spaces and excellent museums, it’s a must-see for any visitor. While I may be biased (I grew up here), I think more people should visit – especially history buffs and foodies.
Whether you’re strolling the cobblestone streets of Beacon Hill, exploring the bustling Seaport District, or admiring the iconic views along the Charles River, This city has a lot to offer (Don’t skip the Freedom Trail!).
When it comes to finding a place to stay, Boston has a variety of options to suit every type of traveler and budget. But some of these hotels are better than others. Others should be avoided entirely.
To help you find the perfect base to stay, here is my list of the best hotels in Boston:
1. The Godfrey Hotel Boston
The Godfrey Hotel is a stylish boutique hotel in the city centre. One thing I really like here is that they provide free bikes, helmets, and locks, which is great for covering more ground when out exploring. They also have a fitness center equipped with Peloton bikes. For breakfast, there is an on-site café offering pastries, fresh coffee and breakfast sandwiches. The restaurant in the hotel is also very good (it’s a Peruvian Japanese fusion restaurant with a cool interior and great cocktails). For a quick nightcap, the hotel lobby bar is a great option and I love that they also offer you a free welcome drink.
Rooms are stylish and simple, with comfortable beds and luxurious linens, and windows that let in plenty of natural light (and blackout curtains so you can get a good night’s sleep). I appreciated the well-thought-out amenities, including a convenient workspace, mini-fridge, 55-inch Samsung HDTV, BOSE Bluetooth speakers, and yoga mat. The bathroom is equally impressive, with a glass shower, premium toiletries and fluffy bathrobes. Overall, the central location, chic design, and comprehensive amenities make this hotel a great choice for travelers looking for comfort and convenience in the city center.
2. Pineapple Accommodation Boston
This quirky and fun boutique hotel is located in the Back Bay, just steps from the Boston Common and within walking distance of many of the city’s top attractions. The hotel’s design is bold and vibrant, with pineapple-themed décor throughout. Don’t worry, it looks better than you thought and adds a playful touch to this classic early 20th century building. What I like is that when you check in you get a free welcome drink in the hotel bar/restaurant and in the afternoon there is free coffee, tea and snacks in the lobby. Although breakfast is not provided in the hotel, there are many places to have breakfast nearby. Additionally, the hotel provides free bicycles for exploring the city.
The rooms here are compact but well designed, making the most of the space with efficient layouts. Like the rest of the hotel, the rooms are bright and colorful with playful pineapple decor, comfortable beds with soft bedding, and thoughtful amenities like Keurig coffee makers, fluffy robes, slippers, and small desks. I also like that they provide a reusable water bottle in the room filled with filtered water (you can take it with you or leave it and they will recycle it when you leave). The bathroom is stylish and original, with a glass shower, quality toiletries and huge plush towels.
Overall, this is a good choice for travelers looking for unique and affordable accommodation in a prime location. This is an especially good option if you’re traveling with pets, as they are known for their dog-friendly rooms and amenities.
3. Langham Hotel
Located in the landmark former Federal Reserve Bank, this unique five-star hotel blends historic charm with modern luxury. I loved walking through the grand entrance into the stunning lobby decorated with grand chandeliers and marble accents. The former banking hall is now the hotel’s signature restaurant, Grana, which serves classic and unique Italian and New England dishes (like lobster cannoli) as well as a delicious breakfast featuring freshly baked pastries and more hearty favorites like Florentine Benedict. . I also really like Fed, their British style cocktail bar. They offer great cocktails, upscale bar food, and even free jazz every Friday. The hotel also features a high-tech fitness center open 24/7, and a beautiful (heated) indoor pool with sauna for relaxation.
The spacious and gorgeous guest rooms feature plush bedding, curated art from local artists, stylish furniture and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. In-room amenities include a large work desk, Nespresso coffee machine, well-stocked minibar (which I loved was filled with local delicacies), safe and 50-inch flat-screen TV. In-room bathrooms are equally spacious and beautifully designed, with luxurious marble finishes and walk-in showers (some rooms also feature deep soaking tubs).
The Langham is a great choice for travelers looking for a hotel in the heart of the city that combines old-world charm with modern comforts. If you want to splurge, look no further!
4. Boston Harbor Hotel
Located on the water’s edge, this four-star hotel is the perfect base for exploring nearby attractions such as the waterfront, the Institute of Contemporary Art and the Boston Children’s Museum. The hotel features a sleek, contemporary design with abundant natural light and open spaces, as well as state-of-the-art amenities including an 11,000-square-foot 24/7 fitness center offering group classes, an indoor heated pool, steam room and tranquil garden areas.
There are also three great restaurants here. For breakfast, I love that you can sit down at their breakfast restaurant, Aura, which has a variety of delicious options to suit all diets, or you can grab some takeaway items from the Seaport Café. For dinner, try TAMO Bistro + Bar, where you can enjoy a locally inspired menu (including herbs and honey from the hotel’s own rooftop garden and bee colonies).
Each room offers city or harbor views. Plus, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, with comfortable pillowtop beds, pillow menus, and even weighted blankets upon request. I also love the reading light and USB port on the headboard. All guest rooms include work desks, 55-inch HDTVs with streaming services, Keurig coffee makers, mini-refrigerators and laptop-sized safes. The bathroom is also large, with marble countertops, a large fog-free mirror, and a walk-in shower with quality bath products. If you want to stay in an area that tourists usually don’t consider, stay here.
5. Newbury Hotel Boston
Located on Newbury Street across from the historic Boston Public Garden, this iconic five-star hotel is a masterpiece of classic elegance. It opened in 1927 as the first Ritz-Carlton hotel and recently reopened as the Newbury Hotel after an extensive two-year renovation. I love the luxe moody feel it has throughout, with velvet furniture, richly colored walls and custom artwork. I particularly enjoyed the private library lounge available to guests. Perfect for sitting down with a drink and grabbing a book from the shelf to read. For breakfast, I recommend the stunning rooftop restaurant Contessa, which offers exquisite Italian-meets-American cuisine (including panettone French toast and fried pasta), but you can also enjoy classic eggs and panini at the hotel’s Street Bar. Pancake breakfast.
Rooms here are spacious and thoughtfully designed with custom furniture, original illustrations on the walls and soft lighting to create a calming atmosphere. Each room features a deluxe king or queen bed with premium mattresses. I especially liked the headboard lighting and large work desk, along with amenities like an in-room Nespresso coffee machine and a fully stocked minibar. The marble bathroom features a glass enclosed rain shower, custom toiletries, and very nice fluffy bathrobes and towels.
Everything about this place exudes luxury, making it an excellent choice for those looking for an upscale retreat in Boston. It’s also a prime location for exploring the high-end shopping, dining and cultural attractions of Deep Bay.
